Membership participation

The ICDC project gained support from JCIPJ Past Presidents and current members, as well as other chapters throughout Malaysia.

During the drawing event conducted in Malaysia, there were about 20% participation by members.

As the project was a collaborative effort with JCIPJ's sister  chapters in Taiwan, Japan and then-Friendship chapter, Hong Kong, it  involved more than 70 members in the whole project organisation.   Although there are social differences among Malaysia, Hong Kong,  Taiwan and Japan, the international understanding of environment remains  as the common vision of the mankind. The ICDC converge the differences  into a common goal.

The ICDC project has successfully instilled the vision of green  environment among the children in Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.  The artistic works by the children in fact inspired so many adults  within the communities that it is indeed the time to start caring the  mother earth for the betterment of young generations. The ICDC brings  the children in different culture to a common vision, i.e. to create a  better living environment for the young generations in the future. It  has achieved the objective of inspiring the international communities to  come close in working together to help create a better world.

Coincidentally, all children in different countries speak a common  language through arts.  Therefore, ICDC has become a common language for  the children to further understand each culture. It also helps promote  cultural exchange among different communities in Taiwan, Hong Kong,  Japan and Malaysia.

JCI PJ 30th Anniversary and Installation Award Banquet - Jan 2011

The official day of handover - 8 Jan 2011
Venue: Glenmarie Golf and Country Club
This day marks the official beginning of my life as JCI PJ President.
And oh my...how busy my JCI life has become for me now.

Anyway, back to the 30th Anniversary & IAB event.
It was a grand affair attended by the Deputy Minister.
We had about 300 guests..a record number for IAB.
We also had a round of recognition for all the past presidents.  Almost all past presidents attended the event.  This is one aspect of JCI that I value.  Most past presidents never officially leave JCI..they are there when you need them.  All you have to do is ask for help.

We even had so many members from our sister chapters [Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong] came to join the celebration. It was worth the effort to pick them at airport at 3am..

Life as Junior Chamber International Petaling Jaya President begins...

A whole new chapter in my JCI journal began in October 2010 during the Annual General Meeting, which was well attended by many members.

I was elected as President of JCI Petaling Jaya.
Although officially I will only take the role on 1 Jan 2011, everyone knows the new JCI board starts work way before then.

I got a full committee on board right from beginning...phew..
Organisation chart was drawn up to include more Commission Directors as a way to train new members and provide more development opportunities to JCI PJ members..

In between, I was whisked off to attend the JCI Malaysia Annual National Convention in Miri, as well as JCI Malaysia Academy.
At the academy, I got to meet the presidents, committees and members of other JCI Chapters in Malaysia.  It certainly is very useful to know them in advance, especially in garnering their support for future events.

We had our Board of Directors training in Dec 2010. Such a pleasant sight to see all the BOD so energetic even when the training end almost 7pm.

Life in JCI : Year 2000 to Year 2010

From year 2000 to Year 2010..I got involved in several activities organised by JCI PJ.

One of the most memorable in my JCI Journal is being in the organising committee of Clog-A-Thon...which got JCI PJ into the Malaysia Book of Records.  It was indeed a great experience.  We had to devise creative ways to get participants, like joining morning exercise groups and asking the group members to attend the event.  Going to universities to do lecture bash. Those were the days without Facebook or other social media tools..

Another event in my JCI journey that I managed to help out was the Junior Chamber International Malaysia Annual Conference.  This event was so successful, that we could buy a new secretariat from the funds obtained.  Now, we could use the secretariat in Sunway Mas for meetings and training.
